F FOR MUSIC

We arrived at the letter F in our quote series and it is dedicated to two women who both made it to the top in the music industry and whose names became legend, despite of everything they had to endure in their early lives.

Respect

EVERYBODY WANTS RESPECT. IN THEIR OWN WAY, THREE-YEAR-OLDS WOULD LIKE RESPECT, AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT, IN THEIR TERMS». – Aretha Franklin

Not only is the term respect inseparably tied to Aretha Franklin, but respect is what relationships are about. We all have clients or business partners we get along naturally and very easily. And, we have the ones where chemistry does not flow so effortlessly. To make these relationships bearable. Sometimes the only form of respect we can muster is goodwill and politeness.

Love what you do

JUST DON’T GIVE UP TRYING TO DO WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO DO. WHERE THERE IS LOVE AND INSPIRATION, I DON’T THINK YOU CAN GO WRONG. – Ella Fitzgerald

Advice on «not giving up» and «persistence» is running wild these days.

Whilst I am a big defender of persistence, paying the price of achieving your goals is only worth it when you love what you do and you have to love what you are working for.

For if you don’t, you might end up achieving your goal only to find out that it is dull, even if the pay is excellent. Maybe another of Ella’s quotes explains this a bit better:

THE ONLY THING THAT IS BETTER THAN SINGING, IS MORE SINGING.

Her goal never became dull to her but music was her raison d’être.
