While most holidays have fixed dates, Easter depends on the moon. Although Easter is always on a Sunday, the date varies.
Easter is on the first Sunday upon the official beginning of Spring which on our hemisphere is around March 21.
The rituals around Easter such as Easter eggs etc. have been followed long before Easter existed.
How and when did chocolate bunnies came into play? I have no idea but I am certainly happy they did as Easter bunnies are the perfect excuse to eat chocolate for breakfast, ignoring the (shocking) nutrition facts.
A lesson on Branding
However, even Easter bunnies can be branded. The gold bunny is known around the world and everybody thinks of Switzerland where they originate from.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the chocolate from this manufacturer but they offer far better products than gold bunny.
Yet, bunny’s «golden outfit» has made it a brand in its own right. It is instantly recognisable and according to its maker there are 1 million siblings sold year after year.
Yes, your product must be outstanding in its category, but it’s the most visible one among your products that makes the brand stand out, not necessarily the best one. This said, does not mean that the most recognisable product should not be a very good one, too.
